Scout Advancement
Only 2% of Scouts become Eagle so first and foremost Scouting should be about fun and development of core values that will last a lifetime. This chart is a notional timeline - Scouts should advance at a pace they are comfortable with and not every Scout is going for Eagle. This timeline represents the balance between earning rank, developing leadership skills, being responsible and having the maturity needed for the Scout to successfully lead the Troop. Some advice from previous Scouts for those going for Eagle - “You want to earn Eagle by Junior year so you can focus on your grades for college”.
